Equally, we engage with Māori talent who are tūturu to their craft and the fundamental mātāpono that guide us as Māori.

Whanonga Pono / Our Values

Rangatiratanga

Rangatiratanga is sometimes understood as autonomy, sovereignty, self-determination or customary leadership.  While that does apply, at the heart of rangatiratanga is trusteeship. As representatives, rangatira leaders act in the best interests of their community to help secure long-term benefits, based on ancestral precedent. Rangatiratanga is primarily about service.

Whanaungatanga

Relationships and connections are central to our wellbeing.  It's about forming and maintaining relationships and strengthening ties.  Whakawhanaungatanga is the foundation for unity, belonging and cohesion.

Manaakitanga

Manaakitanga comes from two words

'Mana' and 'aki'

Mana is a state that holds everything in the highest regard.

Aki means to uphold or support.

Extending Manaakitanga requires respect, humility, kindness and honesty.

Wairuatanga

Wairua is the essence of all existence; it resides in the heart and mind of an individual but can also refer to the spiritual synergy of the collective.

Wairuatanga is essential to health and crucial to the wellbeing and identity of Māori.

Wairuatanga is enhanced when there are opportunities to express and practice tikanga (culture), kawa (traditions) and mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge).

Tino Rangatiratanga

Acting with authority over our own affairs and having meaningful control over one's vision and destiny.
